Inter beat Venezia 2-1 to move up to 53 points at the top of the table. In Serie A Week 23 at San Siro, Simone Inzaghi’s side were forced to bounce back from falling behind in the 19th minute when Thomas Henry caught the Nerazzurri defence by surprise and headed the visitors ahead.
The hosts reacted well and Nicolo Barella was on hand to equalise with 40 minutes on the clock after Ivan Perisic connected with Matteo Darmian’s cross from the right and Luca Lezzerini was only able to push it out towards the Italy international.
There was a shortage of clear-cut chances in the second half as Inter looked to take the lead, with Edin Dzeko missing the best one from close range. The winner did eventually arrive when the Bosnian steered Denzel Dumfries’ cross from the right into the far corner in stoppage time to earn Inter a 2-1 victory.
