It all happened at 23:30 CET on Tuesday 12 January, a time and date which will live long in the memory for Inter fans. With a penalty shootout looming tension was rising in the chilly stands of the Meazza. The referee signalled no time to be added on, so when Federico Dimarco played the ball into Juventus's box the Nerazzurri were clear in the knowledge that it would be their last chance of the game.
Dimarco crossed in from the left, but the pass was intercepted by Alex Sandro. However Matteo Darmian was quick to capitalise on Sandro's awkward chest control and nicked the ball off the Brazilian. Despite then falling to the ground after colliding with Giorgio Chiellini the ball found its way to Alexis Sanchez who pounced on the ball ahead of Daniele Rugani to strike past Mattia Perin.
The ball hit the back of the net and San Siro lost its collective mind. The game was over, Alexis wheeled away, ripping off his shirt and charging towards the Inter fans. He was then swamped by his teammates and those on the bench in an explosion of joy.
That was the moment Inter sealed Super Cup glory.
